Kids & Computers

Young kids and computers don't mix very well.

My two year old son is very attracted to my computer. At some point earlier this year he somehow managed to scratch up the screen to my 22-inch panel monitor. An occasional application of "scratch remover" makes them hardly noticeable for a while. Before that, he had been systematically destroying my keyboard, first breaking one of the little legs that prop it up at a comfortable angle, then later by somehow losing the left shift key. Another time, he crawled under the table and pressed the red button on the power strip, instantly shutting down the computer and all its peripherals. When Ringdancer tried to boot up the computer, it wasn't able to read the hard drive – the boot files had become corrupt due to the improper shut-down. I took advantage of this opportunity to buy a secondary hard drive and upgrade to the 64 bit version of Windows Vista. So I guess it all balances out in the end.
