By virtue of the Korean War having gone into an extended armistice since 1953 rather than an official ending, and that the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States still recognizes there to be a war ongoing on the Korean Peninsula, and that in 2004 the U.S. Department of Defense created the Korea Defense Service Medal to be awarded to all servicemembers having accumulated 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days of service on, around, or above the Korean Peninsula, and that having myself accumulated 31 consecutive days in August 2005 whereby I was award the medal, I have been able to gain membership into the VFW.

Woot! Congrats, Mr. Veteran... ok, so you're a semantic veteran, but hell, that's close enough for the medal, so wear it proudly.
